Term of Reference – Movie Screening GIRLS RISING
“Girl Rising” is a groundbreaking feature film about the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to transform societies. The film presents the remarkable stories of nine girls around the world, told by celebrated writers and voiced by renowned actors. The film use powerful storytelling to deliver a simple, critical truth: Educate Girls and you will Change the World.

The movie screening is intended to share and spread this film. Through this film, audience will realize that thousands of girls can not get education. Audience will also learn how nine girls from different countries struggle to participate in public sphere in their societies. Last but not least, this event is also to discuss the cause of gender inequality and its challenges as well as the need for educating girls.

The event will consist of movie screening “Girls Rising,” movie reviews of two speakers and will be continued by questions and answers session between speakers and audiences. AIFIS will cooperate with Jurnal Pendidikan Islam (JPI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga in organizing this event on Tuesday, 22 October, 2013 at 13.00 – 15.30 WIB. The event will take place in the auditorium of the Faculty of Islamic Education at the first floor, UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

We expect 50 people to participate in the movie screening. Participation is by invitation and open announcement. Apart from academicians or scholars, the discussion will encourage participation from students, activists and journalists.
